Interview: Aileen Richards, Ms. March 2017

This month we chose to feature one of our two wonderful female firefighters that is gracing our month of March page in the 2017 calendar. This is a chance to get to know Aileen Richards and her motivation for being in the calendar and for firefighting in general. Aileen has been a firefighter for six years and an EMT for two years before joining the Stratton volunteer fire department.

Her journey as a firefighter began when her current chief gave her a tour of the fire station and she fell in love with the fast attack truck. Aileen feels honored to be in service to her local community as a firefighter.

Aileen’s favorite part of being in the Colorado Firefighter Calendar is meeting so many new friends that all support a common cause. She is grateful to share a calendar page and attend CFC events with her March counterpart, Hayley.

She states that staying in calendar and firefighting shape is tough work because she loves beer and chips. Aileen credits her husband for motivating her through workouts, as they make a great workout team!

Aileen’s hero is her mom because she always worked hard to support her family and she recently passed her exam to become an official citizen of the USA!

We are grateful to have Aileen in the 2017 Colorado Firefighter Calendar because she has always aimed to be a part of something larger in the community. Along with raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Burn Unit and Burn Camp Programs, she has hoped to inspire more firefighters from the rural eastern parts of Colorado to get healthy and fit for firefighting.

The Colorado Firefighter Calendar is a group effort and without the help and support of hundreds of great people it would not be possible.
