Interview: Gabe Mier y Teran, Mr. December 2017

Colorado Firefighter Calendar would like our fans to get to know Mr. December 2017, Gabe has been a firefighter for four years with the Bennett Fire Department. He has wanted to be a firefighter since he was young when he watched a wild land fire burning along the mountainside. He wanted to learn more about the fire service at that time so he went to a South Metro fire station close to his home to learn more about firefighting.

Gabe’s favorite memory of his time with the Colorado Firefighter Calendar was his visit to Children’s Hospital burn center where he got to see the money raised from the calendar helping kids and their families.

He has a hard time staying in calendar shape due to his love of food! Gabe found that eating one cheat meal a week helped him to eat right the rest of the week. He has always enjoyed working out so it is easy for him to go to the gym at least five times per week. He loves to play hockey as well, so that helps him to also stay in shape.

Gabe’s heroes are his parents. They came to from Mexico to the United States in their early 20s. They did not know the language, yet soon worked to become legal citizens with both of them owning and running successful businesses. They are living the American dream and made sacrifices for Gabe and his sister to have opportunities and reach goals that they may not have thought possible without motivating parents.

Thank you to Gabe for all of his hard work thus far in raising funds for the Burn Center and Burn Camps Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado. We appreciate your passion and positivity with your participation in the Colorado Firefighter Calendar!

The Colorado Firefighter Calendar is a group effort and without the help and support of hundreds of great people it would not be possible.
