Interview: Kyle Trombly, Mr. February 2018

Kyle started his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter in 2009 with Fairmount Fire. In 2011, he was hired on with Arvada Fire as a reserve/volunteer, which then in 2016 he became a full time firefighter with Arvada.

Kyle realized at a very young age of 18, that he wanted be involved in something bigger than himself, in a team environment where he was able to help people during some their worst moments of their lives. Becoming a firefighter, fulfilled Kyle’s desire to help people in their time of need, helping others is where he thrives.

His favorite part of the calendar so far has been meeting all the amazing kids, staff and other firefighters who have helped one another. In being a key part of the Colorado Firefighter Calendar Kyle has really enjoyed becoming more social and building bonds that will last forever!

Do you want to know how he stays in such good shape? Well, here it is… he works out almost every day with at least one or two rest days a week. Kyle alternates days between upper and lower body. But most importantly, he watches what foods he eats — however it has been known that he does allow a cheat here and there and indulges in the occasional donut or ice cream!

What inspires Mr. February? Kyle states that the military inspires him to maintain his fitness and to be in the best shape for the citizens of Arvada, in the instance they may have a situation they are not able to handle. Not having the strength or endurance to do his job is not acceptable in his book. Kyle’s biggest hero is his Grandfather who passed away in 2004. His work ethic runs in his veins and Kyle pushes himself a little bit each day, as his grandfather did to do better. At the end of the day, Kyle can look back and say, “I did my very best and was I the best man I could be.”

Kyle tried out for the calendar because he wanted to do something that would allow him to breakout of his quiet, shy personality, while still being able to help people. Being apart of the Colorado Firefighter Calendar and helping raise money for burn survivors, has been an amazing opportunity for Kyle! He used the tryouts to get back in shape and get on track to eating right, not to mention he was nudged by a fellow firefighter (Mr. November 2016), which obviously encouraged him to do it!  Overall, being part of the calendar gave him the push to try something new and in return has been rewarding in giving back to such an amazing organization.

For those of you who have not bought a 2018 Colorado Firefighter Calendar, Kyle would like to remind you to BUY A CALENDAR!!! Think of it as a donation that supports the Burn Center and Burn Camps Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado, plus who wouldn’t want to look at some good looking firefighters all year long?!?

The Colorado Firefighter Calendar is a group effort and without the help and support of hundreds of great people it would not be possible.
