INTERVIEW: MS. SEPTEMBER 2019 - SCHELLY OLSEN
Meet Ms. September 2019, Schelly from Grand (Granby) Fire.
Give this lady a paddle board or a jeep and she’ll be one happy lady. She loves the outdoors and is right at home in the mountains with her husband Jeff of 22 years.
Schelly began as a volunteer for Grand Lake Fire when she was a stay-at-home mom. She really enjoyed working with her community and the department, that she decided to make it a full-time career, and cannot imagine doing anything else!
So how did Ms. September stay in shape? She hired a personal trainer to help her build muscle and followed a healthy diet. She cut out sugar, gluten and dairy as well as worked out five times a week.
Schelly’s day off is with spent with family boating, paddle boarding, and hiking in the summer. In the winter, the family hits the snowshoes and cross country skis to enjoy the trails right outside their back door in Grand Lake.
Ms. September describes herself as cooperative, energetic and relentless. Her favorite quote is, “Stay gold, ponyboy, stay gold,” from The Outsiders.
Before we go here is one fun fact about Schelly- she’s named after a beer! How cool is that? Her family owns the second oldest family-owned brewery in America, August Schell Brewing Company.
Meet Schelly and the rest of our Colorado Firefighter Calendar firefighters at our upcoming signing events.
