INTERVIEW: MR. JUNE 2019 - MATT AUSTIN

Do you remember the lifeguard from the 2019 tryouts?!? Meet your personal lifesaver, Matt, from Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District in Breckenridge.

This mountain man enjoys spending his days off in Colorado outdoors camping, dirt biking and spending a little R&R time with his adorable golden retriever and his lovely fiancé.

He’s originally from Albuquerque but now calls the mountains home.

Why did he become a firefighter? “Best schedule in the world. Plus it’s an adrenaline rush,” Matt said. He stayed motivated for the tryouts because he wanted to lose some unwanted weight and feel more comfortable with his shirt off. He spent a lot of time in the gym and experimented with a variety of different workout programs. We’d say he majorly succeeded in looking GREAT with that shirt off!

If you meet Matt at an upcoming event, ask him about his tattoos. They all have meaning, varying from where he’s from to him being a momma’s boy. You can meet Matt and the rest of the Colorado Firefighter Calendar firefighters at the 2020 Release Party on Friday, 8/9 at the Seawell Ballroom. Get tickets here.
